A Malaysian 10 cents coin that is worth $6.5K

You must be wondering why such a title. Well, our dear princess had swallowed this coin and we had to spend that money to remove it. Here’s the story.

According to MIL, she was playing with this coin in her mouth when the lightning struck so she must have accidentally swallowed it. This happened at around 2pm on Monday. The strange thing is she can still drinks 2 bottles of water and finish her dinner.
Around 9pm, she came up to me and say, Mummy I have something to tell you in your ears. She said, I’ve swallowed a coin. I was like WHAT???!!! You WHAT??!!! Looking so shock, she said yes, I did swallow a coin. You can imagine the expression on MIL’s face, she was in total shock! To make matter worst, Daddy kept a stern face and wanted to question her. That poor girl is already in shock and yet he is behaving in such a way. I was damn pissed, told him that he should not raised his voice as it will make matters worst and Sherry might not want to open up to us.
After much coaxing, she told us that she really swallowed the coin, and I believe her but not the Daddy. He thinks that she was imagining things. But anyhow, I told him that we should bring her to the doctor and everything will come to light after an x-ray has been performed. Sigh, and I still have to chase him to have his shower, I really don’t understand how come he is not anxious at all.
We went to the hospital at about 9 plus in the car, he still has doubts and started to question her. It was about 10pm when we arrived at the A&E. At the registration counter he said that Sherry claimed she swallowed a coin. I was pissed, what he meant by claimed? At this point he still does not believe his daughter. So went into the doctor’s room, the only thing we can do is to x-ray. Unfortunately they are closed so we have to wait for the person in charge to travel back to the hospital. By the time she arrives, it was about close to 11. We followed her to have the X ray done. After 15 mins, the results are out. Sherry really swallowed the coin. I’m not sure how he felt but I have mixed feelings. I was happy at least my girl is telling the truth, confused as I do not understand why she did it at the same time, angry with her for doing so.
Bring the x-ray back to the clinic and the doctor told us that it is sitting in the middle of the throat and a specialist has to be called in. It was about close to midnight and Sherry was nodding off while waiting for the specialist. There was this kind nurse that brought us to another consultation room to wait so that Sherry can lie down n sleep.
The specialist came and told us that Sherry will have to be under GA and they will scope it out as this is the only way out. We agree to perform this small but high risk procedure immediately as suggested by the specialist. So arrangement has to be made like room type and the booking of operating theatre. We just waited in the same room and after all these have been done, we are brought up to the children’s ward.
Changed her into the operating gown and the nurses brought her down and we tagged along. I’m supposed to go into the theatre with her and make sure she is totally knocked out before coming out to the waiting area. I have to coax her slowly as she is so afraid to see so many people around her not forgetting the temperature is so low. After she is knocked out, I left the theatre and waited with Hubby. During that time, told he lots of things like not to be so restrictive about what Sherry eats also told him to be more patient with his princess and he should also go down to her level to talk to Sherry. I really hope he can do all these. 15 mins has gone (the longest 15 mins in my life), saw a nurse holding the green gown signaling me to go in the theatre before Sherry wake up. Quickly ran in changed and sat beside her. At that same time, the doctor showed me the coin. It is a Malaysian 10 cents. This is the coin that her Daddy has given her to string her guitar.
The doctor told me to let her rest but I did not, I tried to wake her when the doctor has left. She opened her eyes and looked at me before going back to sleep.
It was already 2am when they settle Sherry back into the ward. She woke up, had a few spoonful of milo and went back to sleep. Daddy went back at 4am while I fell asleep not long after he went off.The doctor told us that he will be here at 9am, but we woke up at about 8am. Daddy arrived about that time as well. After the doctor gave her a check, she is fit to be discharged. In fact he mentioned that had it not happen in the night, she can be discharged almost immediately. We waited for the medicine, appointment date and also the discharged letter before leaving the hospital at close to 12pm. All of us knocked out after our lunch.

I hope Daddy and Sherry will learn after this expensive lesson. After this incident I've decided to sent Sherry to full day child care.

Happy Birthday to me.. Simple mummy

Nothing special in fact, my princess wanted me to cook dinner for her, so went to the market with her in the morning to get all the stuff we needed and went home to prepare while the rest of the family were out.

Around noon time, hubby said that wanted to go out for bday celebration for a change but that princess refused to go out! She just simply refused to change and moved her butt out so we called off the celebration and this birthday mummy has to cook simple porridge for lunch.

But my girl did compensate me well, she drew me a birthday card!!! Yes, here's the card.

She explained that she has drawn me some flowers and also some houses.. keke...

This really made my day!!! Everything is worth it!!!

Dinner was prepared as per my princess requested. Her favourite peanut and lotus roots soup, vegetable with prawns and mushroom and steam fish (from my daddy).

For the whole day she had wished me about 10 times, Happy Birthday mummy. While during dinner, she said, I like your cooking mummy. With this I'm already very contented (Simple me!)
