Sherry was sick and was rushed to Raffles Hospital A&E on Sat (22 Sept) at about 3am. She was having fever, shivers and cough. The doctor on duty said that she just caught a cold and prescribed her with some medication. After about 1 hour of observation, he ‘discharged’ us and we went home tired and less worried. But our worry did not lessen by the day, as her fever is like yo-yo, up and down within the hour. Hubby took leave while I work from home for Monday. Come Tuesday I worked from home just to make sure that she has another round of medication. Since she is much better on Wed, we both went back to the office. But her fever hits the roof on Thursday and we decided to bring her to the pediatrician (Dr Veronica Toh) to have a check on her. After much checking, she dropped a bomb on us after taking the X-ray! Sherry is contracted with pneumonia and liquid in her lung’s lining and need to be admitted immediately, we’ll lose her if there is any delay! We are both in a daze when she kept assuring that Sherry will be fine once she is on the drip and also on antibiotics. But it never ever occurred to us that this will happened to her! She was still so active which the doctor is also unable to understand. To her experience, this is a very serious case for the kid to handle.Daddy went to see to all the admission matters while I stayed with her through out. She is so scared that she had clinked on me so tightly. She does not want anyone else except me or MIL.In the afternoon, Hubby went home to take all the stuffs for the stay, Dr Toh came over to start her on her drip and medication. Sherry screamed and cried her heart out! I almost wanted to cry with her but yet I have to be very strong for her to pacify her as well. From that point onwards, she is so afraid to see any stranger that come into the room. She started to cry whenever someone just walked in.Dr Toh dropped another bomb, from Sherry’s blood test, her blood is infected with some virus and at that time, she is unable to determine what is the type and if the antibiotics that she had given is the right type. I almost fainted how could this happened to my precious princess!!!!! She was kept in the cot for 1 full day due to the drip. We brought some toys and also some of her favourite shows to help her pass her time. She is happy so long as we are in the room with her.I pretended to be myself in the day but when come to the wee hours, I just keep crying non stop looking at my girl. My heart aches so much that how I wish I’m the one suffering instead of her!In blessing, Dr Toh mentioned that the antibiotic that she has been giving sherry is the right medication and we saw the improvement in her. She’s discharged on Children’s Day and she is happy to go home. What an ordeal for all of us. Daddy went home everyday around midnight, while I stayed with her throughout her stay and hardly sleep. It is alright for me so long as my princess is well. I don't even mind if I have to take the blame for not taking good care of my girl. We were accused of letting our girl to go thru all these by MIL! She thinks that she is the only one that feel the pain when she see Sherry going thru all these! HOW ABOUT ME! I went thru everything and even help the nurses and doctor to hold Sherry down when she screamed for help! Anyway all over and done with and she is recovering well.
